In terms of the number of games, the current NFL TV package

didn't add that many more games than what the TV package was in the 1990s. Both have Monday Night Football and Sunday Night Football (first aired in 1987 on ESPN). I think in the 1990s CBS and Fox were still airing 2 games each (1 in the early afternoon slot and 1 in the late afternoon slot). Both have 2 Thanksgiving Games (Dallas and Detroit). The current TV package rotates the 1 late afternoon game between CBS and Fox, so you could say the second late afternoon game has become the Thursday Night Game. In terms of new broadcasts, I believe the current TV package has added 3 games in London, 1 extra Thanksgiving game (Thanksgiving Night), and Saturday games to be played after the college football regular season is over. Although I think in recent years the NFL has opted not to play games on Saturday in a couple of the seasons.
